Subject: 20 yrs since income taxes were reduced

Thanks to the leadership of President Bush, the American people had their income tax rates reduced yesterday.

The last time income tax rates were reduced for all Americans was back in 1981.

That was 20 years ago - when Kim Carnes won Record of the Year with Bette Davis Eyes, Rick Springfield sang about Jesse's Girl, Dolly Parton worked 9-5 and the Oakridge Boys sang about Elvira.

And:

Walter Cronkite signed off for the last time on "The CBS Evening News"

Tom Watson won the Masters

Larry Holmes retained his WBA Heavyweight title in 3 rounds against Leon Spinks

The Oakland Raiders beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27 to 10 in Super Bowl XV

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series 4-2 over the New York Yankees

The Boston Celtics were crown NBA champs over the Houston Rockets, 4-2

MTV made its debut

Sandra Day O'Connor became the first female Supreme Court justice

Jack Welch became the CEO of General Electric

Greece joined the European Union

Iran released 52 Americans held hostage for 444 days

The Rubik's Cube was sweeping the nation

Postage rates went from 15 cents an ounce to 18 cents an ounce

The first Space Shuttle (Columbia) blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida

The IBM Personal Computer was introduced

Apple introduced the ill-fated Lisa computer, which listed for nearly $10,000

Maya Ying Lin won the competition to design the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Pac-mania seized the nation

President Reagan fired the striking air traffic controllers

Sandra Day O'Connor became first female Supreme Court Justice

It's about time a new generation experience long-term across the board tax relief. With President Bush's leadership, the wait is finally over.
