03/23/2007 If you have watched the Smarter Than a Fifth Grader show, this shows that Sixth Graders are even smarter. A group of sixth graders just had a trial and determined that while the earth has warmed, mankind is not at fault. What was the big item swaying them to this conclusion? "Hawaii has volcanoes; volcanoes emit CO2."

Let's send these kids to congress. They'd probably be a lot better than the CO2 bags that are there now.

When I went to school, the same groups of "scientists" said global cooling would put us under a mile of ice by 2000. If the weathermen cannot tell if it is going to rain two months from now, am I to believe nonexperts in the weather can predict 10 years from now? Maybe they still believe that Gore invented the Internet.

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit shot down the D.C gun ownership ban the City Council had implemented.  This decision, although great for the citizens of Washington D.C. who need to defend themselves (particularly the poorer sections of the city where crime is the greatest), has possibly farther reaching consequences.

The ruling states that the Second Amendment right is an individual right.

The court ruled as follows on page 20 of its decision:

In short, this brings back on the table the premise that in the entire Constitution, the word “people” serves to describe the individual citizen.

While the Washington D.C. City Council will likely appeal this ruling, this may bring about the possibility of the Supreme court ruling on the Second Amendment as a right of the people as individuals.
